On the occasion of the conference in Rome for the 25th anniversary of the European Program
Bologna, 30 May 2017 – An important opportunity to network with other Italian Life projects on climate change. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Life program and the Habitats Directive, both approved on May 21st 1992, a conference entitled “Adapting to climate change: the experiences and opportunities of LIFE projects in Italy” was held on May 24th in Rome.
The event, open and interactive, was organized by the Italian Local Agenda 21 Coordination, by the Life Derris and Life Master Adapt projects, in collaboration with the Rome Capitale Environmental Sustainability Department, to discuss adaptation to climate change, governance and tools. Since 1992 much has been done to successfully preserve the European natural heritage and to face new environmental challenges. The Roman appointment was an opportunity to get an overview of the national adaptation strategy and future initiatives of the Ministry of Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea on the Life program.
Representing the Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection, Valeria Pancioli intervened with a presentation of the Life Primes project.
In addition to Life Primes, the other Italian projects co-funded by the Life program involved in networking are:LIFE DERRIS (DisastEr Risk Reduction InSurance), LIFE MASTER ADAPT (Mainistreaming Experiences at Regional and Local level for ADAPTation to climate change), the project already completed LIFE BLUE AP, LIFE SEC Adapt, LIFE IRIS, LIFE RainBO, LIFE UrbanProof.
